| Type "Volga" |
Description. Motor ships of the type VOLGA of different modifications (projects 19610 and 19611) are the big dry cargo "river-sea" ships, which have, depending on modification, four or three covered holds, with double boards and double bottom, with machine compartment and superstructure in the rear part. Ships are intended basically for carrying of general cargoes, boxed cargoes, containers and timber.
Modifications. Project 19610 has four cargo holds, project 19611 - three cargo holds. Ships of the project 19611 differ by smaller length. Ships, built since 90-ties, differ form earlier ones by the auto-launching lifeboat and some details of the superstructure. Becides dry cargo ships, pollution control ships (tankers) were created on the base of the same hull, as well as the series of the tankers of the type "SFAT".
Serial building. Since 1986 till 2000 48 units of the type "Volga" and its modifications were built, among them: 38 - ships of the project 19610 (2 built on Amur, including 1 completed as a tanker), 8 - ships of the project 19611, 2 - pollution control ships. In 80-ties ships were assigned serial numbers starting from 4001.
Distribution. Ships of the type "Volga" were delivered to White Sea - Onega, North-Western, Amur, Volga, Western shipping companies, Novorossiysk Shipping Company ("Novoship"), Combinate "Severstal", Kubangazprom, Azov, Estonian, Lithuanian, Hungarian, Caspian and other foreign shipping companies. Ships are operated on the main european seas with the possibility of passing Volga, Don rivers, Volga-Don, Moscow-Volga canals and Volga-Balt waterway, on the seas of Far East with the possibility of passing Amur. At present time all ships of the type "Volga" are in service, except one ship, which reportedly was disassembled.
