Description. Motor ships of the type SIBIRSKIY of two variants (projects 292 and 0225) are the big dry cargo "river-sea" ships for arctic navigation, which have covered holds, with double boards and double bottom, with ice-strengthened hull, with machine compartment and superstructure in the rear part. Ships are intended basically for carrying of general cargoes, containers and timber.

Modifications. Ships of the type "Sibirskiy" were built in two variants, similar in characteristics but differing in construction of the superstructure. Ships of the project 292 have two funnels, of the project 0225 - one funnel.

Serial building. Ships of the type "Sibirskiy" were built at two shipyards. Since 1980 till 1983 33 units were built, among them 19 of the project 292. Ships were assigned serial numbers starting from 2101.

Distribution. Ships of the type "Sibirskiy" were delivered to Lena and Yenisey or Ob-Irtysh shipping companies for work on northern rivers and seas. Several ships were delivered to Volga and North-Western shipping companies. In 90-ties some ships were transferred from Sibir to european seas; some were registered under "comfortable" flags. At present time all ships of this type are in service.
