Type RT
Ship Types / Tugs and Pushers

Description. Motor ships of the type RT (projects 1741, 1741A and 1741AM) are the mid-size line tug-pushers, intended for eastern rivers. Pushers are equipped with the automated barge-holding device of the UDR-50 type. Serial name (RT-600) means rechnoy tolkach or 'river pusher', 600 h.p.; the serial numeration, as a rule, shows the machine power.

Modifications. Ðroject 1741À is a modification with the ice strengthening of the hull and other form of the wheel-house, which provides better view. On the base of this project pushers for Danube were developed, which have the lower superstructure and the other funnels.

Serial building. Since 1972 not less than 180 units of the project 1741 and its modifications were built, among them 28 of the initial project and not less than 4 ships for Danube. Pushers of the project 1741A were built since 1976. Ships of the main series were assigned serial numbers starting from 601; ships for Danube - serial nubers from 801.

Distribution. Pushers of the project 1741 were delivered to Ob-Irtysh, West-Siberian, Yenisey, Lena, Amur shipping companies for work on the main rivers of Siberia and Far East. At present time some ships may be laid up for absence of work. Pushers of the Danube modification were delivered to the Rechmortrans company (former Expedition for the sea steering of the river ships) and now are operated on Upper Volga and Moscow-Volga canal.
