| Type OTA |
Description. Motor ships of the types OT or MOGUCHIY, OTA and BAYKALSKIY of different variants (projects 758, 758A, 758AM and 758B) are the big line tug-pushers and tugs intended for central and eastern rivers. Pushers for central rivers are equipped with the automated barge-holding device of the O-150 type, for eastern rivers - of the UDR-100 type.
Modifications. Initial serial name (OT-800) means ozernyy tolkach or 'lake pusher', 800 h.p. Later the project was modified (project 758A) and got a serial name OTA (ozernyy tolkach avtomatizirovannyy or 'automated lake pusher'). Modified ships differ from the initial project by automated machine control equipment, location of premises and increased height of the superstructure. Tugs, which were also developed on the base of this type (project 758B), are distinguished by the absence of the nose stresses and the barge-holding device.
Serial building. Since 1958 till 70-ties about 200 units of the project 758 and its modifications were built. Ships were assigned serial numbers starting from 801; last known number is 991. 25 ships were built on Amur (project 758AM). They were assigned numbers starting from 801. Ships, assembled on Baykal, got a serial name "Baykalskiy".
Distribution. Pushers of the type OTA are (were) used: in european part - on Volga, Kama, Don, rivers and lakes of the Volga-Balt waterway, Moscow-Volga canal; in eastern part - on Ob, Yenisey, Amur, Baykal and Issyk-Kul. Ships belong to North-Western, Volga, Moscow, Volga-Don, White Sea - Onega, West-Siberian, East-Siberian, Ob-Irtysh, Yenisey, Amur, Issyk-Kul shipping companies. Tugs came disassembled to Baykal and Issyk-Kul lakes and then they were assembled on local shiprepairing plants. Ships of this type are used with barge trains of one or two sections, as well as for steering barge attachments of the dry cargo motor ships of the type "Volzhskiy" through locked canals. On central rivers early-built ships are almost all written off; on eastern rivers (for example, on Ob) many ships are laid up for absence of work.
