Type "Dunayskiy"
Ship Types / Tugs and Pushers

Description. Motor ships of the types DUNAYSKIY (projects 112, 112A and 112B) and ZELENODOLSK (project 749, 749A and 749B) are the big line tug-pushers, equipped with the automated barge-holding device of the O-200 type. During operation the wheel-house was made higher on some of them to provide better view from it when working with barge train. This was achieved by adding of new premises on the roof of the original wheel-house or by lifting of the original wheel-house on the uprights.

Modifications. Ships of the modified project (project 749B) have increased machine power. Later-built ships were equipped with independent control nozzles. The second modification (project 749A) has automated machine control equipment.

Serial building. Ships of the projects 112 and 749 have similar construction. Project 749 series were built in the USSR since 1957, project 112 series were built in Hungary since 1961. Ships with increased machine power were built since 1958. Over 100 units of both series were built, among them not less than 67 - ships of the project 112. Ships of the project 112 got a serial name "Dunayskiy". Ships of the project 749 were assigned names after the towns in the socialist countries and the USSR.

Distribution. Pushers of this type were delivered to the shipping companies of the Volga basin: Volga, Kama and Volgotanker. Later some ships were transferred to Moscow and North-Western shipping companies. Ships are operated: on Volga, Kama, Moscow-Volga canal. They are used with barge trains of two or four sections, as well as for steering barge attachments of the dry cargo motor ships of the type "Volzhskiy" through locked canals. At present time some early-built ships are written off.
