Description. Motor ships of the types BTP and PAVLIN VINOGRADOV (projects 81170, 81172 and 81173N) are the mid-size line tug-pushers and raft tugs, including those equiped with lifting wheel-house, intended for central and eastern rivers. Pushers for central rivers are equipped with the automated barge-holding device of the O-150T-8 type, for eastern rivers - of the UDR-50K type. Serial name (BTP-600) means buksir-tolkach-plotovod or 'tug-pusher/raft tug', 600 h.p..
Modifications. Ships of the initial project 81170 were built for eastern basins; project 81172 is a modification for central basins. Project 81173N has lifting wheel-house.
Serial building. Ships of the project 81170 were built since 1985; not less than 3 units were built. Ships of the project 81172 were built since 1986; not less than 10 units were built. Ships of the both projects were assigned serial numbers starting from 601. Ships of the project 81173N were built since 1994; 2 units are considered to be built.
Distribution. Pushers of the project 81170 were delivered to Yenisey and Lena shipping companies, pushers of the project 81172 - to Moscow, Belaya, Kama and Northern shipping companies for work on Volga, Kama, Moscow-Volga canal and Northern Dvina river. In 90-ties some ships are considered to be laid up for absence of work. Pushers of the project 81173N were planned to be built for Northern Shipping Company.
