| Project 301 |
Description. Motor ships of the project 301 (type VLADIMIR ILYICH, german designation 125M, 125 meter vessel) are the big passenger ships, intended for work on river cruise routes, the first mass series of ships of this class in the USSR. Ships have single, double and 3-bed cabins, equipped with WCs, showers and air condition, restaurant, bar, two saloons, cinema hall with removable roof, souvenir shop. In recent years cabin equipment on some ships was modernized for maintenance of their correspondence to modern standards.
Modifications. The initial project was modified after several ships were build. Outwardly modified ships are distinguished from the initial project by solid rather then netlike falschbords, rounded rather then square cabin windows and other design elements. Newer ships have more powerfull bow thrust device. Two ships were built with smaller hull width. Highly modified continuation of the series is the project 302.
Serial building. Since 1974 till 1983 22 units of the project 301 were built, among them 6 of the initial project.
Distribution. Motor ships of the project 301 are (were) operated: in Russia - on Volga, Kama, Don, rivers and lakes of the Volga-Balt waterway, Amur; in Ukraine - on Dnieper and Black sea along the Crimean seaside. Mainly they work on tourist routes: Moscow - Saint Petersburg, Moscow - Astrakhan and other Volga routes, Kiev - Odessa, as well as shorter routs: Saint Petersburg - Valaam, Moscow - Uglich, Kiev - Kanev. In internavigational periods ships may be used as floating hotels. Ships of this type were delivered to North-Western, Volga, Moscow, White Sea - Onega, Volga-Don, Kama, Amur shipping companies of Russia, Ukrainian Dnieper Shipping Company. In 90-ties two motor ships may have been sold to foreign companies, at present time some motor ships in Ukraine may be laid up.
